Recapping the SDA Annual Conference and CSD Pool Membership Meeting

The annual Pool Membership Meeting was held September 22 in conjunction with the SDA Conference in Keystone. Both the SDA Conference and the Membership Meeting are always a big hit with our membership, drawing people from every part of the state. The Pool and SDA awarded 40 scholarships funding the registration, lodging, travel, and meal costs to send new attendees and Board Members to the conference.

It was also a first chance for Pool team members Metta Spaeth and Adam Johnsen to attend the conference, and Metta’s first chance to see many members in person. Both had a wonderful time meeting people and putting faces with names.

Both the Conference and the Membership Meeting had record attendance. It was a huge win for the SDA, and we were thrilled to see so many members, colleagues, and partners at our booth, in the Membership Meeting, and at the various functions.

Our keynote speaker for the Membership Meeting was Gordon Graham, CEO of Lexipol and nationally renowned public policy expert. Mr. Graham gave a presentation on The Top Ten Families of Risk in addition to the presentation he also made the conference about The Top 10 Ways Firefighters Get Themselves into Trouble. His presentations drew hundreds of people and were a big hit with all attendees.

CliftonLarsonAllen gave a presentation on the Pool’s yearend financial performance, while the Pool Administrators gave an update on the state of the insurance market, as well as what members can expect for their 2017 renewals. The Pool closed the meeting with a drawing for several prizes including CSD Pool branded gift sets and Maglite® tools. We also raffled off an Amazon Kindle Fire tablet, which went to Janet Cederberg of Cimarron Hills Fire Protection District, and a Samsung Chromebook computer which went to Eric Hassel of Purgatory Metropolitan District. Congratulations on your prizes!

Additionally, Joe Depaepe, the Pool Administrator and Adam Johnsen, the Pool’s safety management consultant gave a presentation at SDA University about the ways board members and managers can affect the costs of insurance for districts.

The Pool team had a great time meeting and talking with folks who visited our booth. We met current members, and new prospects, as well as answered inquiries on our many programs. We look forward to seeing you back in Keystone in 2017!
