2017 Coverage Enhancements

The CSD Pool’s continued growth has given us the opportunity to further expand our coverages. There are several new enhancements that we are excited to share with you. These improvements are all effective January 1, 2017 and all come at no additional cost.

  • The primary Public Entity Liability limit was increased to $2,000,000. All existing Excess Liability limits increased by $1,000,000 with the exception of members already carrying a $9,000,000 limit.
Injunctive Relief Defense Reimbursement and Non-Monetary Relief Defense Reimbursement limits were increased to $50,000 per member per coverage period. The increased limits include a combined all member annual aggregate, which also increased from $300,000 to $500,000 (this coverage would compensate you in situations where a court prohibits you from performing a certain act; this can be in addition to or in place of financial awards).
  • Crime coverage, where purchased, now includes coverage for the voluntary parting of district funds through Social Engineering (commonly called “phishing,” this OCCURS when a criminal deceives someone into surrendering confidential information voluntarily) or Fraudulent Impersonation (when a criminal assumes someone’s identity for the purpose of theft, damage, or invasion of an otherwise discrete system) up to the limit of your policy or $250,000 whichever is less.
  • Equipment Breakdown coverage now includes Microelectronics Coverage (this covers damage to or the failure of the microcircuitry of covered equipment; think of it like this: If your machine loses its mind, we have you covered), Cloud Computing Service Interruption (if you have equipment that relies on cloud computing services such as Amazon web services, this covers losses that stem from interruptions to that service), Service Interruption Data Restoration, Data Restoration Coverage, Off-Premises Business Income, Extra Expense (typically, additional costs that exceed NORMAL operating expenses due to continued property repair), and Public Relations Coverage (helps cover the cost of outside public relations services associated with response to a covered loss).
  • Pollution coverage now has a Defense Dedicated Aggregate sublimit of $1,000,000, which is up from the previous amount of $250,000. This limit is available once a claim exhausts the “per Pollution Condition” $1,000,000 limit for remediation and legal defense expenses. Coverage has also been expanded on Fungi and Legionella to now include First Party remediation.
  • Property Reinsurance limit increased from $500 million to $750 million.

This document is a good faith effort to dispel confusion and is not a guarantee of goods or services. The highlighted text is meant to clarify our respective enhancements for your understanding. For a more thorough explanation of any of these concepts, please contact your broker or the CSD Pool.
